A mystery to solve

Jules and Alix spent two Saturdays making a kite for the Wind Festival, with a golden patch sewn onto its tail. They leave it briefly to fetch their reel of string. When they return, it is gone. A pale tail appears above the trees—but is it theirs? Follow the clues before the festival begins.
